Credentials and Accomplishments

 

Ben Knaupp graduated cum laude from Brigham Young University Law School in 1997. He was a Lead Articles editor for the BYU Law Review, and the recipient of a Merit Scholarship. He received his BA in Political Science (while also working on a minor in Chinese) at Brigham Young University, on full academic scholarship, graduating summa cum laude with a 3.99 gpa.

 

Ben was admitted to practice law before all courts in Oregon in September 1997. He was appointed as a Pro Tem Judge for Washington County Circuit Court for a 3 year term in March 2018. He is admitted to the United States Tax Court, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States District Court for the District of Oregon. He has authored 4 articles that have been published in periodicals including Business Week Magazine, The Asset Protection Journal, The Brigham Young University Law Review, and the International Trade and Business Law Annual of the University of Queensland (Australia). He was the Editor in Chief of the revised Oregon Health Law Manual, scheduled for publication by the Oregon State Bar in 2015.

 

Ben is a Pro Tem Judge for Washington county (2018 - 2020 term), a member of the Washington county civil bench bar committee for lawyers and judges.  He is a member of Senator Chuck Riley's small business advisory council.  Ben is a frequent public speaker & instructor. He has been training realtors on Oregon real estate law, speaking at more than a dozen seminars since 2009. He was a presenter at the Oregon Health Law Section's annual meeting for attorneys in 2007 on health law. He was also a presenter at the National Business Institute's 2004 international tax law seminar for attorneys and tax professionals. He has also spoken to consumer and business groups on a variety of business and real estate topics.

 

When he's not working, Ben enjoys spending time with his wife of 25 years and their 5 children, gardening, sports, playing his Roland Fantom keyboard, guitars, and singing.

Ben Knaupp

Ben has been a practicing attorney in Oregon for 21 years. He was recently appointed as a Pro Tem Judge for the Washington County Circuit Court. He has helped hundreds of clients plan their estates, handled probates, brought civil suits for financial abuse of the elderly, conducted civil trials for fraud and breach of fiduciary duty, and handled complex contract and real estate lawsuits. His goal is to provide superior service for a reasonable cost, on-time and within a client's budget.
